Photosynthesis
• Plants can make their own food with water and mineral
salts from the soil, carbon dioxide and light from the
sun.

Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants

use the energy from the light to convert carbon dioxide and
water into food

• Photosynthesis takes place in the green leaves and the stems

of plants

4
Light
• Carbon dioxide + water glucose + oxygen
cholorophll

• This process only takes place in the presence of chlorophyll

and sunlight.

5
The Conditions for Photosynthesis
• Conditions of the environment affect how well
plants grow.
• Plants need the right conditions to grom:
a) Sufficient mineral and water from the soil
b) Carbon dioxide from the air
c) Sunlight
d) The right temperature
