 A Quality Circle is a small group of employees from the


same work area who voluntarily meet at regular intervals
to identify, analyze, and resolve work related problems.

QUALITY CIRCLES
History
History
 Pioneered by Japanese.
 1962: First QC Circle was registered with QC Circle
Head Quarters in Japan.
 1974: Lockheed Company, USA started Quality Circle
movement.
 1977: International Association of Quality Circles
(IAQC) was formed in USA.
 1980: BHEL, Hyderabad first in India to start Quality
Circles.
 1982: Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI) was founded

CONCLUSION

Quality circles are very efficient tools that help an


organization in not only knowing its own ground
reality but also focuses on improving the same.
Thus they are applicable for variety of organizations
where there is scope for group based solution of work
related problems. Quality Circles are relevant for
factories, firms, schools, hospitals, universities,
research institutes, banks, government offices etc
