Arthur Potter Journal Introductory Notes

Both DVDs contain all of Arthur Potter’s Journals (Elba Township, Lapeer County, MI) from 1892-1949.
These journals belong to his grandson, Jason K. Potter (the writer), who has transcribed some key years
and scanned all years as Adobe Acrobat (pdf) files.

I have been reading the journals and annotating them with bookmarks and explanatory notes, as well as
including relationship charts showing how persons mentioned are related to Arthur Potter or his wife
Kate. I have also included Elba and Hadley township plat maps from the years in question so that it is
possible to look up neighbors mentioned in the journals. This process is ongoing and may take more
time to complete, so I am releasing the current version to make it available to researchers interested in
family history in Elba and Hadley Townships.

The original journals and other supporting documents will be donated to the State of Michigan Archives
when I am through annotating them. There they will be available for interested persons to consult.
They may also put the scanned journals online if and when funds permit.
