Define Political Law.

A political "law" is a phrase such as “all politics is local" that is repeated so

often that it becomes "true." Such "truths" may stand the test of time, but many do
not. For example, it used to be a political law that the Vice-presidency was one step
away from total obscurity.

Explain Constitution.

The Constitution of the Philippines is the supreme law of the Philippines.

The Constitution currently in effect was enacted in 1987, during the administration
of President Corazon Aquino, and is popularly known as the "1987 Constitution".
Constitutions for the Philippines were also drafted and adopted during the short-
lived governments of Presidents Emilio Aguinaldo (1898) and Jose P. Laurel (1943).
The Constitution is divided into 18 parts, excluding the Preamble, which are called
Articles.

Explain Freedom Constitution or Presidential Proclamation No. 3.

Following the EDSA People Power Revolution, that is toppled Ferdinand E. Marcos,
the new President, Corazon C. Aquino issued Proclamation No. 3; the adoption of a
provisional constitution. This became as the 1986 Freedom Constitution.

The Freedom Constitution was not a constitution in its own right but rather a large
amendment which superseded and abolished certain provisions from the 1973
Constitution. It granted the President certain powers to remove officials from office,
reorganize the government and hold a new constitutional convention to draft a new
constitution.

Explain Preamble.

The preamble is an introductory statement or preliminary explanation as to the

purpose of the Constitution and the principles behind its philosophy. The term is
particularly applied to the Constitution, which recite historical facts which may be
pertinent to the provisions. It is often confused with the long title or the enacting
formula of a law.

Constitutions that governed the Philippines.

Philippine constitutional law experts recognize three other previous constitutions as

having effectively governed the country — the 1935 Commonwealth Constitution,
the 1973 Constitution, and the 1986 Freedom Constitution.
