Hook: If you could go back in time to the 1920’s and could take your entire wardrobe, how would you
be viewed by others?
Bridge: How would the changing styles that added to the definition of the flappers compare to the
style of dress of today’s modern teenagers?
“Prohibition” – topics to include: 18th Amendment, organized crime, mobsters, speakeasies, “rum
runners”

Harlem Renaissance—was the center of African-American “intellectual” life in New York City.
Harlem Renaissance—gave rise to writers and poets such as Langston Hughes, Ernest Hemingway, F.
Scott Fitzgerald and T.S. Eliot.
Harlem Renaissance—died out during the 1930s and rediscovered in the 1960s.
