On heating,

Ammonia + HCl gives white fumes of ammonium chloride. Ammonia is used to test for
the presence of HCl gas.

Sodium iodide reacts with concentrated sulphuric acid to produce hydrogen iodide.

by concentrated sulphuric acid ( which acts as an oxidizing agent )

Oxidising of the chloride ions by manganese dioxide to chlorine

The test for chlorine gas is wet blue litmus paper. In the presence of chlorine gas, wet
blue litmus turns red ( showing that chlorine gas is acidic) , then is decolourised
/bleached.
Only Silver chloride is soluble in aqueous ammonia solution.
Silver bromide and silver iodide is NOT SOLUBLE in aqueous ammonia solution.

If concentrated ammonia solution is added to silver halides, Silver chloride and silver
bromide dissolves in it.

Silver iodide is NOT SOLUBLE even in concentrated ammonia solution.

In COLD sodium hydroxide solution,

STEP 1 : When the camera’s shutter is opened, the film within is exposed to light.
The reactions shown in the diagram below takes place.

STEP 2 : The exposed film roll is developed in

solution. Hydroquinone reduces silver ions to silver atoms.
