Introduction

The fibre generates electricity by using

solar energy is called photovoltaic
fibre.This photovoltaic fibre used to
generate power for small electrical devices.
The photovoltaic fibre convert about 3% of
the light that hits it to electricity. The
photovoltaic fibre can be woven into fabric
that is used to make electricity-generating
clothing . Photoelectric fibre store electric
energy in small devices.( mobile, Lap top
ect.)
Components of photovoltaic fibre

 Poly(ethylenedioxythiophene)
Poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS)
Dimethylsulfoxide
)
(DMSO)
Triton
Phenyl carbon butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM)
Polypropylene Fibre
P3HT - Poly (3-Hexylthiophene)
Preparation
Prepare flexible polypropylene monofilament
with a diameter of .59 mm.
 Then monofilament is dipped into solution of
PEDOT:PSS or Poly (ethylenedioxythiophene)
poly(styrenesulfonate) at 50 C for 3 hours. This solution
contains 5%dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) and 0.1% Triton
to improve the conductivity and adhesion to the surface
of the PP fibre.
 A blend of P3HT and phenyl carbon butyric acid methyl
ester (PCBM) materials was prepared by dissolving
P3HT and PCBM with the ratio of 1:0.8 in
chlorobenzene.
 Coated fibers are dipped in the solutions of
P3HT, (PCBM) and chlorobenzene.
Then, the samples are stored at 50˚C for 15
minutes under vacuum.
The conductive top metal electrode is the last
layer of the photovoltaic fiber structure. Small
drops of silver paint are placed onto the
electrodes of the photovoltaic fibers in order
to develop contacts for better charge
conduction
