Facilities Report to the Board of Trustees

January 26, 2011

Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library

• A replacement window for the third floor has been delayed due to bad
weather in up-state New York where the glass is made. The contractor
had expected delivery and installation in early January. The window
remains boarded until the factory can make and deliver the replacement.
• The digital controls system work for air handler number 1 has begun and
is about 75% complete but additional replacement parts need to be
ordered and installed before completion. This is one of the energy
stimulus projects.
• All preventive maintenance was completed for the month of December
2010.
• The lighting retrofit project for the fourth, third and some of the second
floor started on December 24, 2010 and 1,900 lights will be cleaned,
repaired or replaced by January 31, 2011. This is part of the energy
stimulus funding.

• As part of the energy stimulus package, a new air handler has been
installed at the Southwest Neighborhood Library. The contractor has
completed all work except the digital connection that will operate the air
handler from a remote site.
• All preventive maintenance was completed during the month of December
2010.
