Art Therapy

Pt’s Name: Linda V.

Art therapy is a mental health profession that uses the creative


process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental
and emotional well-being of individuals of all ages. It is based on the
belief that the creative process develops interpersonal skills, manage
behavior, reduce stress, increase self-awareness and achieve insight.

The activity mainly aims to enhance the psychological and


emotional well-being of psychiatric patients. This is designed to
establish a channel in expression of feelings through the use of artistic
abilities particularly drawing.

Specific Objectives:
After one and a half hour of nursing intervention, the clients will
be able to:
1. express thoughts and feelings through their output
2. sustain relationship with co-art therapy participants
3. maintain acceptable and positive behavior throughout the
therapy

Analysis:

Patient showed positive behavior and was very cooperative


throughout the therapy process. She was able to follow the given
instructions. During the therapy, she was focused on his work of art,
carefully choosing colors. Client gave more attention on the details of
his drawing which portrays more of trees, ball, and a flower vase with
her name written on it. She managed to explain his work well and was
well- behaved during the activity.

She said that she chose to draw the coconut tree because it is very
useful. She draws a banana tree because it is useful too. She also said
that she loves a flower very much that’s why she draws it.
