Regenerative Braking With D
Regenerative Braking With D
c motors :
The terminal voltage of the dc motor must exceed the supply voltage for regeneration to take place.also this voltage must be
kept at this value irrespective of the variation in the speed or braking torque.during regeneration the current through the
armature reverses and since the exciatation has to be maintained, the field connection must be reversed,if a short circuit
condition is avoided.
During regenerative braking the auxilary field winding are placed in series with each other and switched over in
parallel across the armature and the series field.the machine acts as a compound generator with the slight differential
compounding.if there is a change in the line voltage the shunt exciting being sensitive to such changes mimmideatly causes the
emo of the generator to increase or decrease thus providing the necessary balance.suppose the line voltage tends to increase
beyond the emf of a generator.the increased voltage across the shunt circuit will send a large exciting current through it causing
the emf of the generator to rise.the reverse of this happens when the line voltage tends to fall.the arrangement is,
therefore,self-compensating.
