Betty Kamya undergoes Intestinal surgery

Halima Athumani

Presidential hopeful Betty Olive Kamya of the Uganda Federal Alliance Party is
undergoing intestinal surgery at the International Hospital Kampala.

The Doctors have diagnosed partial intestinal obstruction for her part caused by
irregular meal times. Kamya was admitted at the Hospital, private ward in room 4
on Saturday morning after a rally in Lugazi.

The fatigued and stressed Kamya who was headed for the theatre this morning for
the operation reassuringly says she is stable and her condition is not stressful.

Kamya is to be given a bed rest of one week, leaving her with one week to the end
of the campaigns. She says she was to visit Toro region this week, however, most of
the work is done and whatever is left will be done by the other UFA party members.
Kamya says the party has good structures and a Federal ideology shared by all
members which is enough to keep the campaign going.

Dr. Prasandan Thayill the Chief Anaesthesiologist says her recovery will depend on
how today’s surgery goes. He was optimistic that since she has no other health
problems, her recovery should take almost a week, though she is now more prone
to ulcers.
