The document provides recommendations for working with metallic foil finish films. It notes that these films have high porosity and are prone to water marks. Cleaning should be done gently with cotton to avoid damage. Adhesives should be carefully applied to avoid excess absorption. It also recommends proper needles, gloves, covers and cleaning practices when working with this type of material.

Elevated poromeric / porosity in nature!!To the reason it
has tendency and very prone to getting water marks/water stains.
*Leather: grain off /grain removed and coated with
polymeric material, to the reason difficult to evaluate the stretchiness of material. On safe hand, cutting direction of components along / parallel to back bone direction! Except centre spine advisable to perpendicular direction of back bone
Finish film has maximum porosity!! Ultimately
breathability would be there, to the same will absorb and hold moisture. Cleaning will be very difficult, don’t use chemical/solvent or spot remover on this material! Will get light rings or peel off around the stain.
The above were identified by EM and Thermal view of the
material!!
*Production care recommendation and
advice.
Adhesive:
Water base adhesive: Spray application not advisable
( damp atmospheric ) ! Less viscosity will flow and easily absorbable. Coating and brushing methods/application procedure needed (Drying time to film formation should be sufficient and exact. follow TECH SHEET). Use jig to control /control application on component to correct width and length.
Adhesive coated on release paper (double side coated) is
best option than water or solvent base adhesive.
*Cleaning:
Spot removal: Don’t use creep rubber or m/c,
rather cotton felt or tightly woven cotton cloth. Do not rub too hard and do it in gentle circular motion.
Instantaneous cleaning practise required for water
mark/stain and water based adhesive. Talcum powder /water absorbent spread on water spot. On ageing to certain period will avoid ring stain or heat air application (dry heat air) better than absorbing agent.
Basic needs for production:
1) Hand gloves: white color.
2) Polythene cover: To secure the WIP from dust and
handling marks.
3) Avoid External lubrication for stitching, skiving and
other procedure
Needle point:
1)Turned edge / stitch & turn: Don’t use the wedge
point or cutting point. Use acute ball point or sharp point
2) Wedge Point: Should be medium cutting point, it’s
meant to be Medium triangle point with fabric tip or medium triangle point. Also concentrate on “Dia “of throat plate/needle plate. Thanks
