DESIGN
RESEARCH DESIGN

 The research design is the master plan

specifying the methods and procedures for
collecting and analyzing the needed
information.

 Research design is a plan or blue print that

researcher select to carry out their study.
NEED FOR RESEARCH DESIGN

1. Minimiges the time and money

2.Advance planning

3.Avoid flaws

4.Select proper tools

5.Eliminate bais and marginal errors

FEATURE OF GOOD RESEARCH
DESIGN

 It should be flexible, appropriate, effecient,

economical .

 It should give high reliability and validity

 It should have these elements

 Subjects

 Variables

 Time

 Investigator role
RESEARCH DESIGN GIVES FOLLOWING
ANSWERS

 What is the study about ?

 Why is the study being done ?

 Where will the study be carry out ?

 What type of data is required ?

 What period of time will study include ?

EXPLORATORY RESEARCH
 Exploratory research is usually conducted when the researcher does not
know much about the problem or need additional information.

 Designed to generate basic knowledge,

 Clarify relevant issues uncover variables associated with a problem,

 uncover information needs,

 define alternatives for addressing research objectives.

 A very flexible, open-ended process

DESCRIPTIVE DESIGN
 Designed to provide further insight into the research problem by
describing the variables of interest. Can be used for profiling,
defining, segmentation, estimating, predicting, and examining
associative relationships.
 Descriptive Research (who,what,where,how)
 Designed to provide further insight in to the
research problem by describing the variables of interest.

 Can be used for profiling, defining, segmentation, estimating,

predicting, and examining associative relationships.
QUASI_EXPERIMENTAL DESIGNS
 In an observational study, members of the control group are
pre-determined. They can be matched according to demographic
information to a member of the exposure group.
DIAGNOSTIC DESIGN
 Diagnostic Design is a document indicating how the diagnostics
will be implemented on an upcoming/new products that will be
developed by the company.

 It describes the behavior of the diagnostics like how the test will
execute, how the output messages are formatted, and how the final
result is displayed
