 Observe the patient and caregiver's behavior.

 Contact the social worker to speak with the caregiver.

 Assess the risk factors for the disease such as family history, traumatic life events,
past experiences, etc.

 Note any violent behavior of the patient and caregiver

 Send a urine sample to the lab to determine the presence controlled


medications such as cocaine, barbiturates, etc.

 Be aware and accept the patient's behavior (anger, betrayal, liar, etc) to develop a
better understanding about the mental disorder.

 Have a clear communication to the patient and family members about the disorder.

 Therapeutic confrontation with the patient by making him/her feel that he/she is
accepted and supported.
