Original Recipe Yield 24 granola bars  

Ingredients Directions
2 cups rolled oats • Preheat the oven to 350 F (175 C). Generously grease a
3/4 cup packed brown sugar 9x13 inch baking pan.
1/2 cup wheat germ • In a large bowl, mix together the oats, brown sugar, wheat
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon germ, cinnamon, flour, raisins and salt. Make a well in the
1 cup all-purpose flour center, and pour in the honey, egg, oil and vanilla. Mix well
3/4 cup raisins (optional) using your hands. Pat the mixture evenly into the prepared
3/4 teaspoon salt pan.
1/2 cup honey • Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in the preheated oven, until the
1 egg, beaten bars begin to turn golden at the edges. Cool for 5 minutes,
1/2 cup vegetable oil then cut into bars while still warm. Do not allow the bars to
2 teaspoons vanilla extract cool completely before cutting, or they will be too hard to cut.

1/2 cup honey • Bake 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the
1 egg edges are golden. Cool completely in pan before turning
2 teaspoons vanilla extract out onto a cutting board and cutting into bars

This recipe yields about 16 bars from an 8-inch square baking pan.

3/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats • Preheat the oven to 350F degrees. Line an 8-inch square baking pan wi
(not instant) th heavy duty aluminum foil, making sure there is a 1-inch overhang all
1/2 cup chopped walnuts around the sides of the pan. These will be used as "handles" to remove
1/4 cup unsalted sunflower seeds the granola bars from the pan once they are baked. Set aside.
1/2 cup all-purpose flour • Spread the oats, walnuts, and sunflower seeds on an ungreased baking
1/2 teaspoon baking powder sheet and bake until they are lightly toasted, stirring every 2 to 3 minute
1/4 teaspoon salt s. This should take about 10 minutes. Remove baking sheet from the ov
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon en and allow the mixture to cool completely before proceeding.

to cool completely on a wire rack.
• Lift the foil "handles" on either side of the pan to remove the slab of gra

size and shape bars.
