The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) is an aptitude test that measures the talent of the
applicant. i.e the drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity, critical
thinking ability, that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are related to specific field
of study, i.e. Architecture

NATA is required for admissions to 1st year B.Arch. at all institutes / schools / colleges of Architecture in
India (including Govt., Govt-aided, Private Unaided, University Depts., Deemed Universities, etc.),
offering courses, and leading to Bachelor's degree in Architecture.

National Aptitude Test in Architecture is conducted by the National Institute of Advanced Studies in
Architecture (NIASA), Pune, an Academic Unit of the Council of Architecture (CoA). The CoA is the final
authority in India as far as regulating architectural education and architectural profession is concerned.
Candidates, who are not admitted on the basis of valid NATA marks, will not be considered for
registration as an Architect.

It is a mandatory for every architectural Institution imparting 5-year B.Arch degree course in the country
to join the NATA and to admit students on the basis of valid NATA score. After the conduct of NATA, all
architectural institutions in the country are required to submit a list of students admitted in the B.Arch
degree course, mentioning the total NATA score and total marks in qualifying examination, to the
Council.

For appearing in NATA candidates have to fill a pre-registration form which is available at the NATA
website and also at the designated test centers. Candidates then have to take an appointment from the
test center by paying the test fees. Candid dates will be finally given receipt cum appointment voucher
with date and time from the Test Center.
