CB Johnson: A friend of the 29th Ward

CB Johnson is a 40 year resident of the 29th Ward.  During this

time he has maintained his duty as a servant to the people of this
community.  In his teenage years he worked diligently at Terry’s
Place (End of the Line) at Madison and Austin.  In 1990 he founded
Campaign for a Drug Free West side.  This organization provides
education, outreach and prevention services to West Side residents.
Mr. Johnson has expanded his outreach to equip our communities
with practical tools to live healthy and productive lives in order to
develop a greater sense of achievement and self-worth.  He has
served as CEO of the organization since its inception.
Mr. Johnson’s career as a social services advocate has
continued with his recent collaboration with the Hope for Haiti Relief
Fund.  He has been instrumental in providing valuable resources to
the people in Haiti who were affected by the earthquake which
devastated that country.  In an effort to help thwart some of the
problems that people in the 29th ward have encountered with finding
apartments, he has assisted in rehabbing properties in order to create
affordable housing for our residents.  He also acted as Minority
Business Female Business specialist for the Capital Development
Board.  As a Legislative Analyst for the Cook County Commissioner,
Mr. Johnson was able to see firsthand the responsibility necessary to
run the city as well as the county.  As a brother, father, husband,
grandfather and business owner, CB Johnson continues to foster
relationships with the residents of the 29th ward.
