Period 2.3

Intro Statement: The aim of this project was for us to apply statistical skills while surveying a
population of 50 students on which college they prefer to attend. From there we did further
research on each of the colleges to narrow them down to the top ten then the top three. The
colleges that we chose were based on ones that we thought were ones that would be popular
amongst Clackamas Seniors and were ones that we might consider attending ourselves. The
colleges that we concluded with are as follows:

Summary: In conclusion, our data had ranked our top three schools according to overall
ranking in their individual attributes as University of Oregon being the best, Gonzaga
University as the second best, and University of Portland as the third best. The area that
they each ranked the best at can be seen on the spreadsheet and the table of data that
follows. From the very beginning we had decided to survey a random class of our choice
however we contradicted that idea when we realized that the population was not random
enough so we had passed it between four lunch tables during second lunch. Our target
population was toward seniors although we had received data from both juniors and
seniors to make it more random. The posted question was “Which of the following listed
colleges are you going to or plan on going to as you graduate?” We thought that this
question was open ended and could give them a range of choice. Thus, through this
method, we had obtained our sample and results to further do research on.
