Description: A cell-permeable salicylic acid analog that acts as a potent, non-
competitive inhibitor of p300 and PCAF (p300/CBP-associated factor) histone acetyltransferase (HAT) activities (IC50 ~ 8.5 µM and ~ 5 µM, respectively). Shown to affect HAT-dependent transcription from a chromatin template and does not affect DNA transcription. Also reported to display anti-microbial properties and to inhibit the activities of prostaglandin synthase, tyrosinase, and lipoxygenase.
