IUAC, New Delhi, India.

A General Purpose Crate (GPC) capable of handling Five types of modules have been developed in house to
digital and analog Inputs/Outputs signals has been fulfil the control system requirements at IUAC using GPC
developed for accelerator control system applications. similar to CAMAC based control system viz.
The system includes back-plane bus with single board • 16 channels 12-bit Scanning ADCs
computer PC104 and Ethernet. The modules can be • 16 channels Digital-to-Analog converters
plugged into the back plane bus using standard euro • Digital control and readout
connectors, which provides highly reliable and dust free • Power supply control module
contacts. At a time maximum eight modules can be • X-Y beam scanner power supply control modules
inserted into the crate. The total power consumption is
approximately 50W. The crates are connected over the It is an embedded PC based distributed control system
local area network and communicate over TCP/IP based on Linux platform and it runs in a client server mode.
The server part of the program runs on the computer
protocol.
