    Part A

    1. Imagine you’re planning to construct a building at a particular site. Suppose the site is
    not suitable, that means the bearing capacity of the soil is very less. What are your
    suggestions for construction of foundation at that site?
    2. What are the causes of the failures of the foundation? Discuss the remedial measures.
    3. Explain vibroflotation, grouting and sand piles. In what situation would you use each of
    them?

    Part B

    4. List advantages of hollow concrete block masonry comparing to other types of masonry.
    5. Write about the supervision of the brick masonry? What are the defects in brick
    masonry?
    6. List different types of rocks and explain how they were formed. What are
    recommendations for use of different types of stones for different purposes?
