~~ BIODEGRADABLE PLASTIC BAGS @ SHIRDI ~~

Everyday thousands of Ladoo Prasad Packets and other items are sold
at Shirdi. Most of these Packets / small carry bags are all made of
"Plastic" - which happens to be one of the most toxic pollutants
present today.

So, to minimise the environmental and health impact of plastic waste

in Shirdi, the Sai Baba Temple at Shirdi has invited proposals from
manufacturers of Biodegradable bags. These truly environment
friendly bags will be made of biodegradable material derived from
agricultural waste. These Plastic bags will get decomposed in 180 days
after coming in contact with the Soil because the micro-
organisms present in the soil will be able to break down 95% of the
plastic bag material into carbon, oxygen & non-toxic biomass. The 30-
micron thick material does not get affected by ghee, oil or moisture.

Incidentally, some other temples have also shown interest in going for
these environment-friendly Biodegradable products.
Leading the way are the famous ladoos of Tirupati, which will now also
be wrapped and distributed in biodegradable carry covers.
