The Denver St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee invites the
Denver community to the annual Changing of the Sign, 3:30 p.m., Thursday, March 10,
2011, at the corner of 17th and Wazee Streets in lower downtown Denver.

This annual event officially kicks off St. Patrick’s Day activities for Denver. With
the help of Mayor Guillermo “Bill” Vidal and Denver Public Works Traffic Engineering
Services, Wazee will be transformed to Tooley Street.

Every year, the City of Denver honors former Denver District Attorney, Dale
Tooley, on the Thursday before the annual Denver St. Patrick’s Day Parade. A Denver
native, in the 1960s, Tooley was a Denver Committeeman, Treasurer and two-term
Chair of the Denver County Democratic Party, before being elected three times as
Denver District Attorney beginning in 1973. 

Mayor Vidal will be joined by other City dignitaries, officials from title sponsor
Bellco Credit Union, and Tooley’s son, Keith, as he reads the City’s Proclamation. Irish
pipers will fill Tooley Street with Irish cheer.
