He is survived by his wife, 8 children, 26 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.

    Richard Byrne Shamrell

    September 4, 1925 – August 18, 2008

    A Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, in Holy Cross Catholic Church in Portland for
    Richard Byrne Shamrell, who died Aug. 18 at age 82.

    Richard Byrne Shamrell was born Sept. 4, 1925, in Kansas City, Mo. During World War II, he served
    in the Coast Guard. He moved in 1955 to Portland. He was an installer for Pacific Northwest Bell for
    24 years and then owned Shamrell Real Estate for 20 years. In 1950, he married Helen Dugan.

    Survivors include his wife; daughters, Katheryn Shamrell and Mary Pfeiffer; sons, Dick, Tony, Joe,
    Tim, Tom, John and Dan; 26 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
    Remembrances to Holy Cross Area School. Arrangements by Hustad.
