Enrollment System Part 1.

Acknowledgement

The researchers would like to acknowledge the participation of the faculty, registrar and
principal of Holy Family High School. The researchers would also like to extend their gratitude
to the respondents during the data gathering. The researchers would like to acknowledge the
resource person Engr. Rudolfo Doromal Jr. who guides in terms of the development of the
thesis documentation.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to fulfill a better system that will serve as a more reliable tool in
registering and enrolling students in an institute. The study is to show the advantages and
disadvantages that arise in the computerized enrollment system. The study is to show the
innovation of registration and enrollment systems from traditional to high-end technology. The
study also serves the purpose of revealing the mechanics of the said system.

The user interface provides ease through its organized interface and functionality. The
administrating side provides efficiency in keeping and gathering work. The system will have two
parts. The user account and the administrator account. In the user account, users are logged in
as guests. They may register and enroll through filling up the available computerized forms. The
administrators may interfere with the data in every way possible.

1.0 Research Description

Student Enrollment System includes a computerized registration and enrollment form which
provides ease to clients and better management and maintenance of data in a reliable
database.

1.1 Overview of the Current State of Technology

This generation is intensely attached with technology. Almost everything can be

done with technology. Technology for the users provides good consolation and
solace. Many await the enrollment schedule of the school they are studying in.
Come enrollment time they begin to rush and flock to school as early as possible.
Vacations are cut short, young ones are sometimes abruptly separated from the
security and comfort of home and family just to be able to study in a good school,
relaxation and leisure quickly put to an end that give way to the serious pursuit of
study. The latest Student Enrollment Systems include features such as computerized
registration forms, enrollment forms and safer data keeping. Almost all aspect of
the industry prefers computerized systems because of its greater offers and services.
The system is now greatly recognized. Furthermore, the demand for better Student
Enrollment Systems also increases.

1.2 Research Objectives

*To identify the mechanics that makes up a good and efficient Student Enrollment
System. To obtain a system that is fully equipped with reliable database. To fulfill a
system that is well organized and user-friendly. To identify the advantages,
disadvantages and risks that is encountered by the whole system. To identify the
possible errors and their proposed solutions.

1.2.1 General Objectives

To come up with a functional enrollment system that will allow users to

fill up and submit forms such as the registration and enrollment forms in
the comforts of the in house facility and also allow the administrators to
keep track and maintain information and data that was gathered from
the submitted forms. To identify the purpose of the system. To run a
system that is efficient and reliable to both administrators and users.

1.2.2 Specific Objectives

To instill the appropriate functions that will make up the system. To

incorporate the façade and function of the whole system.

1.2.2.1 Administrator

 To CREATE lists of those currently enrolled and registered

students
 To STORE data gathered from the forms and those entered by
the administrator
 To UPDATE/MODIFY data gathered and stored.
 To VIEW entries and names of registered and enrolled
students
 To DELETE unnecessary data
 To SEARCH specific information or names

1.2.2.2 User

 To FILL UP computerized registration and enrollment forms

 To SUBMIT the filled forms
 To VIEW lists from Current Students, Registered Students and
Unqualified Applicants

1.3 Scope and Limitations of the Research

The system includes a computerized registration and enrollment form. It allows

users to fill in the form and submit. It allows the administrator side to retrieve
information. It can severely reduce the amount of duplicate effort required for
multi-enrollees. It also allows users to view whether their information has been
passed. However, the system is not web based. It cannot be altered or modified by
the users. It cannot show the results instantly to users. Users may not remove or
delete their information once they’ve been passed.

1.4 Significance of the Study

1.4.1 General Significance

The study is significant for the innovation of manual ways of registration

and enrollment to a higher-end technology. It is significant to the
registrars, faculty and students of the institution that will use the system.

The study is significant in many ways. It provides a clear definition of its

functions. The study will define the advantages with the use of the
proposed system. It will identify new possibilities that may help ease
workloads. It will serve as an instrument to entice more people to
recognize and use such system.
This study will serve as an inspiration to the next generation of
developers and programmers to continue the creation of efficient and
reliable systems that will serve the society.

1.4.2 Significance to the Researchers

The researchers find the study significant in a way that it shows the
functions of the system which allow the researchers to further
understand how the system works. It also allows the researchers to
identify errors within the system and at the same time allows the
researchers to think of ways to resolve the given issues or errors. The
study will also serve as a basis in future cases.

The researchers have seen other models of the system and have analyzed
each of their strengths and weaknesses. This study will serve as the
researchers’ own proof of skills. The study will also serve as a challenge
for the researchers in terms of creating a better system and maintaining
it.

1.5 Research Methodology

1.5.1 Waterfall Process Model

1.5.1.1 Phase 1: Planning

The researchers started by determining the appropriate topic. The

researchers decided on the enrollment system considering the
necessities of the society. The group researched to be able to create
relevant questions. They prepared 16 questions that will be used for the
interview. The researchers conducted interview to our respondent last
February 23, 2011 at Holy Family High School in Sum-ag. The rest of the
information was gathered from other resources such as the web and
books.

1.5.1.2 Phase 2: Requirements Gathering and Analysis

The researchers have prepared an interview with a proponent. The

interview served as the basis for the creation of the function of the
system. The researchers planned to gather enough information and skills
in building and creating good databases and well-organized façade or
interface. All relevant information has been gathered, the researchers
opt to collect the soft wares and resources needed to build the system.
The researchers settled to use PHP and MySQL.
