This research study proposal examines how sleep terrors can affect children's sleep patterns and cognitive ability in school. Sleep terrors occur in 3-6% of children and are a type of parasomnia disorder. The study aims to analyze medical journal and library data as well as data from sleep disorder centers on 900 children ages 6-12, finding that 22 out of 23 children who underwent adenoidectomy for frequent sleep terrors experienced complete cessation of the disorder. Most existing research on this topic uses case study methodology.
