YOU ARE HERBY SUMMONED to an appearance in the Ninth Circle of

Dante’s Inferno. Once there, your crime of treachery will be assessed and you will be

placed in one of four rings, each with its own specific punishment, based on the type of

treachery you committed. These four rings are explained below.

Ring One: Caïna

This ring is the home of those who were treacherous to their kin during their

lifetime. Here souls are frozen up to the shoulders. If assigned to this circle, you will join

other infamous traitors such as Bocca degli Abati and Cain.

Ring Two: Antenora

This ring is the home of those who were treacherous to their country during their

lifetime. Here souls are frozen up to their heads. If assigned to this circle, you will join

other infamous traitors such as Antenor and probably Richard Nixon.

Ring Three: Ptolomea

This ring is the home of those who were treacherous to their guests during their

lifetime. Here souls are frozen on their backs with only their faces emerging from the ice.

If assigned to this circle, you will join other infamous traitors such as Fra Alberigo and

Branca d’Oria.

Ring Four: Judecca

This ring is the home of those who committed the worst act of treachery:

treachery against their benefactors. Here souls are half frozen and eternally chewed on by

one of Lucifer’s three heads. If assigned to this circle, you will join Judas, Brutus, and

Cassius.
