Definition

Pyrex glass is a borosilicate glass. It is made


by heating raw materials like silica sand and
boric oxide to extremely high temperatures for
extended periods of time. When hot, it is
moulded into different shapes to be used later
for different purposes. Pyrex has become an
important material for a variety of applications
that require heat and chemical resistance.
Unlike other glasses, Pyrex has a low
epansion characteristic.
Physical Properties

It has a high melting and boiling point.


It is less dense than usual glass.
More resistant to thermal shock.
It is brittle.
It is a good conductor of heat but a bad
conductor of electricity.
