Electricity is a very convenient form of energy that can be generated

using different energy resources. Some of these resources are renewable

(wind power, geothermal, hydroelectric power and solar power) and some
are non-renewable (coal, Oil, steam and natural gas). Each resource has
advantages and disadvantages.

I am going to be explaining about steam powered generation of

electricity. A steam turbine is a mechanical device that extracts thermal
energy from pressurized steam, and converts it into rotary motion. About
80% of all electricity generation in the world is by use of steam turbines.

from the fuel and using it to raise converts to mechanical energy
steam, converting the thermal energy which then converts to electrical
of the steam into kinetic energy in energy in the generator. As

3) Electricity flows from the power plant 4) The electric current then runs through
through wires to the step up the power lines to the substation
transformer. The transformer raises transformer where pressure is lowered to
the pressure so it can travel long between 2000 and 13000 volts. (step-
distances – it’s raised as high as down transformer)
756,000 volts.
5) Electricity is then taken 6) From here electricity (415

pressure is lowered again to meter is located to measure
between 120 and 240 volts how much you use. Wires take
