Famous Textile Sdn Bhd broken needle detection policy.

1. No extra, broken, parts of needles are to be kept by any operators, be it in their sewing machine
drawers or any part of the workplace.

2. All operators are briefed and have to inform the sewing supervisor when there is a needle that is
broken. Before being issued a new needle, the broken needle must be handed over to the
supervisor. All parts of the needle must be accounted for.
3. All defective or broken needle must be taped into the broken needle record. When completing
the form, the initial package with the date issued must be taped as well.
4. Procedure for locating broken needle within the sewing line
5. Use a magnet to look in the immediate vicinity of the sewing machine.
6. Use the hand held metal detector in the immediate vicinity of the sewing machine.
7. If needles cannot be accounted for or broken part of needle cannot be found, that bundle has to
rejected and remove immediately from the sewing line.

Metal detector usage procedures


An additional step of metal detection will apply to garments belong in the infant and toddler size
ranges. . The following procedures are to be followed.

1. Check detector is functioning by running through the sample needle


2. If detector is functioning proceed, else inform management and mechanics
3. Discontinue cartoning until detector is functioning
4. Run garments through the metal detector
5. Garments that have no metal detected from garments that are not checked
6. Garments that have metal detected have to be recorded and separated
7. Use hand held metal detector to locate the metal
8. Garments can only be used if metal can be removed without change in sales appearance
9. If metal cannot be found and or removed, garment has to be separated and cannot be shipped
