Al Jazeera English to Launch ‘The Stream,’ a Talk Show About Social Networking
 Al Jazeera English is planning a new talk show that centers around social networking.

 “The Stream” has been in the works for a year and will make its debut ironic as the Arab world

continues to throb with protests.

 It will differ from regularly scripted shows, and “The Stream” will be based on a script made up

of incoming tweets, Facebook wall posts and YouTube videos from viewers and “the Web at

large.”

 To make the show as social network-centric as possible the hosts will be reading tweets and

other updates as they come in.

 The hosts also plan to interview guests using Skype.

There is Still Plenty of Room in the Tablet Market

 RBC analyst Mike Abramsky says that only 0.3% of the world’s population owned a tablet at

the end of 2010.

 More people will surely buy tablets however, especially since there are several great options

for consumers to choose from.

 Abramsky predicts that more than 400 million people will own tablets by 2014, and he also

predicts that Google Android tablets will overtake the Apple iPad as the leader with 40%

market share (34% for Apple, 13% for Microsoft, 8% for BlackBerry, and 5% for HP).

Skype Will Begin Running Ads This Week


 Skype is looking to create a new revenue stream, and what better way to bring in revenue than

to advertise?!?

 New advertising will appear in the home page in Skype and will feature ads from Groupon,

Universal Pictures and Visa.

 Chief marketing officer Doug Bewsher says Skype has already run some test ads via online

music service Rdio “in the last month or two.”

 According to Brewsher, the ads are designed to be unobtrusive and will not interrupt the Skype

experience.

 Skype also plans to target the ads based on “non-personally identifiable” demographic data,

though users can opt out of sharing such information.


Angry Birds Game Coming to Facebook
 The popular game is coming to Facebook next month with “completely new aspects to it that
just haven’t been experienced in any other platform,” says Rovio CEO Mikael Hed.

 Hed used to world “collaborative” to describe the aspects of the game, and he added that “the

pigs will have a more prominent role.”

 Rovio promises to keep anyone that is interested up to speed on all the latest news about the

upcoming “Angry Birds” migration to Facebook.
