Roll no. 09
WHAT IS LAND POLLUTION
• Land pollution is the degradation of Earth's land
surfaces often caused by human activities and
their misuse of land resources.

• Land pollution is caused by domestic and

nuclear wastes, industrial wastes, deforestation,
human sewage, mining and other factories and
increased mechanization.
Causes of Land Pollution

• Increase in urbanization is one of the major causes of land

pollution.

• The disposal of non-biodegradable wastes

• Agricultural wastes

• The process of mining.

• Industrial wastes are major contributors of land pollution

• Deforestation
CONT….
• Improper treatment of sewage.

• Burning of solid fuels leads to the formation of ashes, which is

yet another cause of land pollution.

• Although domestic and industrial wastes are collected and

recycled or burnt in incinerators, a large amount of rubbish is
left untreated. These are then dumped into grounds, leading
to land pollution.

• Garbage dumped by people makes the streets unhealthy,

unfit and dirty to reside in.
CONT…
• Overuse of chemical fertilizers

• Irrigation and water logging due to which the salts in the

land come up and after the evaporation of water ,salt
settles on the surface of the land making it unfit.

• Dumping of radioactive wastes from industries .

• Overuse of a particular land area for cultivation of crops

one after the other makes it barren

• People cut forest for furniture.

• Plastic is a main source of land pollution

effect of land pollution

• Human Health

• Wildlife

• Plants

• Environment

• Agricultural
solution
• Reduction

• Reuse

• Recycle

• Avoid chemicals in your home and yard

solution

• Encourage organic farming

• Proper garbage disposal
• Recycle garbage
• Reduce use of herbicides and pesticides
• Avoid littering. Excessive littering is one of most
common reasons for land pollution.
• Efficient utilization of resources and reducing
wastage
• People should not cut tress
• People should not throw garbage on land
• Plastic bags should be avoided
• Improve fertility of the land by reforesting
