Miller,

Hello, my name is Nikki Meyer, and I am excited to start working with you
in your classroom. I appreciate this opportunity since becoming a teacher has
been a dream of mine for years now. My passion for teaching came to me my
junior. year of high school when my art teacher Mr. Damico ignited my desire to
teach. He is extremely laid back and creates a relaxing, comfortable atmosphere
for all his students. It was because of his commitment and love for teaching that
I realized I wanted to be a mentor and a teacher. Since my other passion in life
is art, my subject of choice would be an art teacher. I’ve been an artist for the
majority of my life and I am currently double majoring in fine arts and elementary
education, even though someday I hope to be an art teacher for high school
students.
I come from a long line of teachers, my great grandmother; grandmother
and mother are all teachers. My mother teaches at my old elementary school,
East Amwell Township Elementary School here in New Jersey and she has also
influenced my decision to pursue a career in teaching. It wasn’t until I attended
Hunterdon Central Regional high school that I truly decided the direction my life
would take. Now I am 21 years old and well on my way to fulfilling my dream of
being a teacher.
