CHAPTER 3

RESEARCH METHODOLGY AND DESIGN

This chapter deals on the research design, the instrument used by the

researcher in conducting the study, the research locale, sampling procedure, data

gathering procedure, and the statistical treatment of data.

Research Design

The study at hand will utilize descriptive research as a means to provide

data about the specific population (Level III nursing students) or universe

(Arellano University Legarda Campus) being studied. This style of research

would help in finding out the problems of the said students and how they affect

their academic standing.

Furthermore, this study will also employ survey research to get a first-

hand and personal knowledge about the subject matter.

Research Locale

The study will confine itself solely within the Arellano University Legarda

Campus. Since the university has a considerable number of nursing students, it is

believed that this study could reflect on the bigger picture of the nursing

profession which is on a national level.

The number of respondents to this research study (100 students) is a

sample population from the total number of Level III nursing students in Arellano

University Legarda Campus. That is relatively huge number of respondents and

the bigger the number the more reflective it will be of the general scenario.

Sampling Procedure

The study will utilize accidental sampling. To get a representative sample

of the estimated 600-man population of Level III nursing students of Arellano

University Legarda Campus, this study will survey 100 respondents.

Data Analysis Plan

The researchers’ data analysis plan involves a qualitative scrutiny of the

raw data from the survey to explain the frequency and intensity of the

phenomenon referred into.
