students.

Always give a brief introduction of the
new lesson or do an activity to stimul
ate students’ motivation.
Have balanced and sufficient group
and individual activities.
Get all students involved.
Always correct students’ poor
pronunciation.
Playing Games
Play listening games before speaking
games.
Give instructions before calling
students’ numbers when playing
games.
Always start with smart/responsive
students, not shy ones.
Have students repeat when playing
listening games; give students
enough opportunities to practice.
Have the losers repeat to help them.
Use proper scoring methods, not
Chinese characters.
Count the points and declare the
winner.
During the review, let the students
say the vocabulary or ask and answer
the questions by themselves.
Help when necessary, but not too
much.
