STRUCTURE OF CHEST THAT

LEAD TO CHEST PAIN

HEART
 Heart attack-due to blockage of blood flow to
the arteries.
 Angina-imbalance between oxygen demand of
heart and amount of oxygen delivered via
blood.
 Pericarditis- inflammation of pericardium.
Blood vessel
 Aortic dissection-a tear in inner lining of aorta.
Cause internal bleeding and interrupt blood
flow.
 Pulmonary embolism-blood clot in blood vessel
that supplies the lung.
 Coccaine induced chest pain-cause blood
vessel to constrict. Decrease blood flow to
heart.
Lung
 Pneumothorax- collapsed lung, occur when air
enter the saclike space between the chest wall
and lung tissues.
 Pneumonia-infection of lung tissues. Cause
inflammation of lung.
Diaphragm
 Perforated viscus-A perforated viscus is
a hole or tear in the wall of any area of
the gastrointestinal tract . This allows air
to enter the abdominal cavity , which
irritates the diaphragm , and can cause
chest pain.
Ribs
 Costochondritis-This is an inflammation of
the cartilage between the ribs. Pain is
typically located in the mid-chest, with
intermittently dull and sharp pain that may be
increased with deep breaths, movement, and
deep touch.
