Dr, Victor Chang.

Early lives,

Victor Peter Chang, was born on 21 November 1936 he was a Chinese Australian cardiac surgeon
and a founder of recent heart transplantation. Born in Shanghai to Australian-born Chinese parents, he
grew up in Hong Kong before moving to Australia. When he finished his medical studies at the
University of Sydney and working in St Vincent's Hospital, he trained in England and the United States
as a surgeon before returning to Australia.

He was educated at a primary school called St Paul College in Kowloon. He moved to Australia in
1953 to complete his secondary education at Christian Brothers' High School. In 1960, he graduated as
a Bachelor of Medical Science with first class honours at the University of Sydney and with a Bachelor
of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1962.

Chang worked for two years as an intern in St Vincent's Hospital before his teacher Mr.Shanahan sent
him to England to train with London surgeon Aubrey York Mason. Chang became a Fellow of the Royal
College of Surgeons in 1966 and trained in cardiothoracic surgery at the Royal Brompton Hospital.

Scientific contribution they made:

The advent of anti-rejection drugs in 1980 made heart transplants more feasible. 8 April 1984, a team
of doctors led by Chang operated on 14-year old Fiona Coote who became Australia's youngest heart
transplant patient. A pioneer of the modern heart transplant, victor chang was awarded a companion of
the warder of Australia and was awarded its highest degree of M.D.
Peter Charles Doherty

Peter Charles Doherty, (born 15 October 1940) is an Australian Veterinary Surgeon. Peter C. Doherty
was born to a piano teacher and a government employee in Brisbane,

.Peter Doherty was born in Brisbane, Queensland, where he attended Indooroopilly State High School.
He received his bachelor's degree in veterinary science in 1962 and his master's degree in veterinary
science in 1966 from the University of Queensland.

Doherty went to the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, earning a Ph.D. there in 1970 for his studies of
infection of sheep brains. Doherty had his own laboratory for a project studying killer T cells--white
blood cells that destroy virus-infected cells in the body by recognizing proteins on the cells' surfaces.

In 1986, he gained the International Award of the Gairdner Foundation of Canada; and in 1995 he
received the Albert Lasker Medical Research Award, often a introduction to a Nobel. Finally, in1996, for
his work with Zinkernagel, the two were awarded the 1996 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.

Elizabeth h. Blackburn
Early lives.

Elizabeth Helen Blackburn, AC, FRS (born 26 November 1948 in Hobart, Tasmania) is an Australian-
born American biological researcher at the University of California, San Francisco, who studies the
telomere, a structure at the end of chromosomes that protects the chromosome. Elizabeth
Blackburn and her research team at the University of California, San Francisco are working with
various cells including human cells, with the goal of understanding telomerase and telomere biology.

I was educated at Broadlands House Girls Grammar School, and received a generally excellent
education. However, physics was not offered, so I took physics classes offered in the evenings at the
local public high school

Throughout her career, Blackburn has been honoured by her peers as the recipient of many
prestigious awards. She was elected President of the American Society for Cell Biology for the year
1998.She chose biochemistry as my major and graduated after 4 years with an Honours degree in
Biochemistry.
