Lakeside is creating a Green Team committee of students in grades 3-5 to promote environmental protection and preservation both at school and within the community. The Green Team will focus on raising awareness, educating others about eco-friendly choices, and improving actions that impact the environment through regular meetings and volunteer service projects like implementing a school-wide recycling program and managing cafeteria waste.

In alignment with Lakeside’s firm belief in the motto “Earth Day Everyday,” Lakeside is creating a committee of students interested in becoming stewards of the environment. Green Team members must be dedicated to taking action towards the protection of our Earth and preservation of our natural resources not only at school, but within their homes and communities as well. What Does a Green Team Do? Green Team initiatives focus on actively promoting awareness, educating others about ecologically friendly choices, and improving actions that will have a direct impact on our environment. Green Team members will attend regular meetings during the lunch recess hour and will volunteer their time for various service projects. Two projects for this year include: • a school-wide, uniform classroom recycling program for paper and plastic • a space waste management in the cafeteria with lunch trays and food waste items Who Can Join the Green Team? We are looking for two students per classroom in grades 3 – 5. We are asking for student volunteers who are not currently involved with Student Council.
