in the Navy V-12
Program during WWII.

Turned down for the
pilot position b/c of
being colorblind.

Qualified as gunner
and radio operator on
torpedo bomber.

plane escaped being
destroyed during the
Battle of Oklinawa.

After war completed
degrees at Kenyon
College and Yale
University in Drama.

Left for Hollywood in
1954.

tea, popcorn, pretlzes,
salsa and even cat
and dog food.
