Digipak CD Cover – Initial Ideas

FIRST IDEA: This idea has stemmed from my

original sketch of a person wearing a set of
headphones:

This sketch
was drawn
more
abstract than
the photo
taken above,
but still
retains the
original idea
of music
being
listened to and also works quite well with the music
artist being on the front cover. Image was edited
on Photoshop with slight colour corrections.
SECOND IDEA: Caspar is once again listening to
music on his headphones, but I’ve experimented
on the different angles and compositions of the
shot. In this shot, we no longer see Caspar’s face,
and only showing part of his face, which is common
with some CD album covers:
I edited the original photo on Photoshop, adding
more contrast and brightness to make the image
stand out more. I also added colour corrections on
Caspar’s hair and jacket.

THIRD IDEA: By far my favourite idea, this image

has great composition and is more visually
dynamic than my previous attempts.

The idea to put the image in black and white

comes from my idea for the multimedia music
video I created to one of Caspar’s music tracks.
Most of the music video is shot in black and white,
making the album cover seem more related to the
music video itself, tying everything altogether
nicely.
Due to the monochrome look, the image looks
quite abstract, which links back to my original
ideas and sketches that are abstract themselves.
