Seminar on Image and Signal Processing

Our college organized a live telecast of a seminar (with help of EDUSAT) by Prof.
Kapoor of DELHI TECHICAL UNIVESITY (DTU) on image processing. The seminar
started at sharp 1.00 pm and it went for about two hours with Mr. Kapoor sharing the
brightness of his knowledge with the students. The topic discussed in seminar are(salient
features):
 What is transformation and why we need transformations?
 Fourier Transformation, its advantages and disadvantages.
 Methods to overcome the disadvantages.
o Short term Fourier Transform.
o Window techniques.
o Kronneker function.
 Wavelets and wavelet transformation.
 Properties of wavelet transformation.
o Time shift
o Scaling
o Flexibility.
 Steps to take wavelet transformation.
 Continous and discrete time wavelet transformation.
 Advantages and disadvantages of wavelet transformation.
 Some important wavelet transformations.
o Haar Transformation.
o Daubechies Transformation.

Mr. Kapoor explained each topic with the help of real life examples. The seminar ends
with the summary of whole seminar.
