The cell is the smallest unit of an organism that functions independently. All living things are made up of
cells and nothing less than the cell is said to be alive. Cells are hard to be seen with our naked eyes, but a
microscope can be used. Some organisms have on cell and others have many cells. Scientists said cells
are alive because they carry seven characteristics of life.
