This case study describes developing a software system for a college library to address problems with manually tracking issued books and their availability. The current manual system is inefficient and difficult to manage with a large collection. The proposed computerized system will use Java for the front end and SQL for the back end to automate operations like recording book checkouts and searches. This will reduce the workload for staff and make it easier to keep records updated and find books. The requirements are a Windows OS and at least 128MB of RAM and 40GB of hard disk space.
