Nixa Public Schools’ parents, community members and educators care about increasing student

achievement. That’s evident in being "Accredited with Distinction in Performance" by the state
of Missouri nine years in a row.

In Missouri, student achievement is measured by the M.A.P and End of Course exams. Studies show
that, through high school, family involvement contributes to higher achievement, better attendance,
more course credits earned, more responsible preparation for class, and other indicators of success in
school (Catsambis, 2001; Simon, 2004). Parents, we need your help to ensure each child is able to
demonstrate his/her full potential on the exams. Here are some testing tips to use at home:

 Keep a positive attitude about the tests.

 Mark down test days on your calendar so you and your child are both aware of testing
dates.
 Reduce evening activities during testing to make sure that your child gets enough sleep
on the night before the test.
 Ensure that your child eats a healthy breakfast and avoid heavy foods that may make
him/her groggy and avoid high sugar foods that may make him/her hyper.
 Make sure that your child gets up early enough so that he/she will be on time to school.
 Talking about the test with your child can relieve stress about test taking.
 Remind your child that the school has prepared him/her. He/she simply has to put forth
his/her best effort.

The school/family/community partnership increases achievement. Thank you for partnering with us.
