Cops: Boy, 8, dies in gun accident at Dolton home

The boy, who was identified this morning as Kyree Davis, was at the home with his 11-
year-old brother when the shooting happened.

It's unclear if Kyree accidentally shot himself or if his brother shot him unintentionally, he
said.

Blaundin said foul play was not suspected as of late Tuesday, and police were conducting a
death investigation and not a homicide probe.

The shooting happened about 6:20 p.m. at a residence in the 14100 block of Calumet
Avenue, said Dolton Police Lt. Harry Blaundin.

A handgun was confiscated from the scene, he said.

Police were interviewing some of the victim's family members, including the 11-year-old,
a 14-year-old brother, their parents and another relative, said Blaundin. He said Illinois
Department of Children and Family Services would be notified.

An autopsy on Kyree was scheduled for Wednesday.
