Sensory organs
• The sensory organs detect changes
around us known as stimuli (singular:
stimulus).
• The ability of sensory organs to detect
stimuli is known as sense.
• All the sensory organs are complete with
sensory receptors that is the nerve
endings that can detect stimuli.

Pathway from stimulus to response
1. When a stimulus is detected, receptor cells in
the sensory organ will be trigged and nerves
impulses (electrical message) are generated.
2. These impulses will be transmitted through the
nerves and to the brain.
3. The brain interpret the impulses signals as
specific information that the organism has to
respond to.
4. The information sent to the effector through the
nerves to provide responses.
Effectors are parts of the body that carry out
responses such as muscles and glands.
