Narcissa, by Jonathon Shaw

To get this manuscript, you must find it on Shaw's website, scabvendor.com. It is not
yet published.
But it is the most astounding manuscript I have ever read. What Shaw has created is
a new threshold for writers. He has bested Roberto Bolano. He has surpassed Henry
Miller. He has taken the art of writing real life experiences to a new height and
depth.

Narcissa is an epic tale of the dramatic relationship between Shaw and his Brazilian
girlfriend, Narcissa, as they work their way into a deep abyss of codependency.
Shaw, a recovering alcoholic, is a sober sex addict; Narcissa is a strung out crack
addict.

In his search for serenity, Shaw digs and claws his way through his tormented
relationship with Narcissa. In the process he runs headlong into the issues from his
dramatic childhood, growing up in an alcoholic home. His mother, actress Doris
Dowling, was briefly married to his father, jazz musician and writer Artie Shaw.
Jonathan Shaw became the infamous scab vendor - a tattoo artist in New York City.
He was the defiant tattoo artist for stars and musicians creating a tough, drugged
out artist’s persona of a motorcycle-riding misfit.
But he left his career behind and moved to Rio de Janero, hustling his living on the
streets and making a life with the young Narcissa.

His story is a powerful descent into drug addiction and codependency, yes. But it is
really a story of uncovering and discovering the chilling remnants of the affects of
growing up afflicted by parental alcoholism, the horrifying after affects and the
absolutely devastating consequences.

If you are the adult child of alcoholic parents you must read this book.
