9.1: HUMAN ACTIVITIES THAT ENDANGER AN ECOSYSTEM
1. Types of activities that threaten the ecosystem
 Flash flooding
-Rapid flooding of low-lying areas,rivers and creeks that is caused by the intense
rainfall associated with thunderstorm.
 Landslide
-Downward and outward movement of slope-forming materials composed of rocks,soils
or artificial fills under the influence of gravitional and other force.
 Soil erosion
-Increase by removing natural vegetation to clear land for construction project,mining
operation,or farmland.
 Human activities
-Deforestation such as clearing land for farms and town,lumbering,mining,building
dams and draining wetland all alter the environment so extensively that ecosystem
may be completely destroyed.
-As tropical forests are cutbdown, animals have progressively smaller feeding and
living space and they also become more accessible to hunters.
 Pollution
-Harmful change in natural environment caused by human activities such as the
release
