G2 - Math Project - Semster 2 Mar 2011
This math project is to design and conduct a survey and then to record
the results in the form of a graph.
1) Using the attached survey sheet, the student needs to think of a good survey
question along with five fixed answers.
They must get their survey question approved by their math teacher before
they start. This is to check that the question will give a good range of results.
Students will then ask 30 people their survey question. This will be done in
the class and at break times under the supervision of the teacher and also by
asking family members at home.
Students should record the survey answers on their sheet using tally marks.
2) Once the student has gathered 30 answers, they should draw a graph to
show the results they found. This should be one of the following types of
graph a Bar Graph, a Pictograph or a Line Plot. Perhaps the easiest one to do
will be a bar graph.
You can find examples of these graph types on pages 103, 104 & 105 of your
math homework book and how we record using tally marks on page 101.
The completed survey sheet (the one with the tally marks) and the graph
should be handed in to your math teacher before Wednesday 6th April 2011.
Please ensure your full name and grade are clearly written on all papers you
hand to your teacher.
