Native Place Pink – cold autumn wind over my native village Mechetnoe amaze me. The evening village is so beautiful! We used to its beauty, and, sometimes, we don’ notice it. But when you leave it for a month, for a week, it will appear in your memory in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening. Welcome to the heart of the Saraton steppes – Mechetnoe. Its was founded in 1977. Population is – 1303 people. It is far from the big industrial centres. The distance from Mechetnoe to Stepnoe – 17 km. Why is it so called – Mechetnoe? It is name comes from the river, that flows near the village – Mechetka, as for the name of the river. There are several points of view: 1)Once upon the time there was a building on the riverside, that was considered to be a Moslem mosque. 2) Maybe its name comes from the names of the rivers: Mech, Mecha, flowing by the river Don. 3) There is one more variant; the name Mechetnoe comes from the word “mech”, it means “steep”. Our village is not big and is not small. It’s square is 106.6 km. It is situated in a very curious way: in the middle of the two ponds and the river in such three – cornered place. In all seasons it is lovely here, even now, in early spring. Snow and black trees, and the pounds covered with ice don’t spoil its beauty. They say, that the village is alive, until there is a school there. Our school was opened in 1981 and it’s is our second home. There is a monument to the veterans of the Second World War. We are proud of it. If you want to read or you don’t know what to do? Run to the sportground, to the House of culture, to the library. And you will be healthy and happy! We all hurry for wonders, But There is nothing more wonderful That land under the sky Where the roof of your house is!
